Hello! My name is Michelle Nigro, (last name is pronounced Ny-Grow). I am thrilled to be a part of the Riverdale Scholars! This is my first year at Riverdale, and my second in district 12; last year I taught remote 5th grade at Cherry Drive. This school year will mark the 33rd year of my teaching career. I taught two years in Albuquerque, New Mexico in fifth grade, one year in Westminster District 50 at second grade, and 13 years in Brighton 27j in third grade, fifth grade and as a gifted and talented coordinator/teacher. The other part of my teaching career was spent home schooling my three children 1st-12th grade.
I am a Colorado native! My husband of 33 years and I have three grown children. Our son got married this summer and teaches high school Social Studies; our oldest daughter lives in Dallas where she is finishing her masters degree, and our youngest daughter is finising her bachelor's at University of Northern Colorado. In my spare time I teach dance at a local studio, sing and teach at my church, take cycle class, and enjoy going on long walks with my husband and our dogs. I am also in a master's degree program at University of Northern Colorado. I look forward to a great year with fabulous fifth graders at Riverdale Elementary.
