Riverdale receives district award nominations
Congratulations to two of our Riverdale staff members! Paraeducator Miranda Lundy was nominated for a Strengths in Action-Focus on Students award, and art teacher Sam Hinshaw was nominated for the Strengths in Action-Engage award.
"Being nominated for the Strength in Action award for Engage was an honor," Hinshaw said. "We have a strong culture at Riverdale of supporting each other and celebrating strengths, and I am so lucky to work here.
"The way I run my art classes, choice-based rather than teacher-directed, is my secret to success when it comes to engaging students. My focus is on helping students think and work like artists. Having the opportunity to pursue their own ideas and interests makes a huge impact on their engagement and connection with their art. I love coming to work every day and being a part of this community, and I really appreciate everyone’s support."
Last month, employees from across the district nominated their colleagues to earn these annual awards for going above and beyond to ELEVATE student success. Ms. Hinshaw and Ms. Miranda are so deserving of this recognition! We can't wait to learn who the winners are on April 14.
