JiJi returns to help scholars launch new year with ST Math
Some scholars were excited, others were nervous and many were wearing black and white! What's becoming an annual Riverdale tradition occurred September 9 with ST Math mascot JiJi the penguin returning to visit Riverdale.
Scholars prepared for the visit by wearing penguin-themed or black and white clothing, creating penguin headbands, writing their guesses about what math tools or prizes might be in JiJi's backpack and beginning their new ST Math puzzles challenge for the school year. One third grader's mom even painted an impressive JiJi look-alike on his cheek for the special day.
ST Math is a digital, visual instructional program that engages students in creative and rigorous problem-solving, allowing them to see the math and grow. Throughout the week, scholars have the opportunity to solve ST Math puzzles at their grade level in addition to engaging in daily math instruction.
Riverdale families already know from instructional coach Mrs. Krautler's updates on the ClassDojo app that some scholars have completed more than 10% of their math journey for the year. Wow!
JiJi had hugs and high flippers for scholars in every K-5 classroom and will be checking in with Mrs. Krautler for updates on the scholars' achievements this school year.
Thank you for visiting again, JiJi!
