Riverdale's learning celebration is a hit with families

At Riverdale's annual learning celebration, the school ran out of hot cocoa with more than 200 scholars’ families attending. As always, wearing cozy pajamas was encouraged! Final projects from the Five Star District’s writing, art, music and English Language Development units of study (and more) filled the hallway walls.

There are two components of the final writing projects presented at Writing in a Winter Wonderland: a handwritten or typed piece and a video or audio recording of the scholar reading it. Every Riverdale scholar from preschool through fifth grade had a writing piece on display; if they're also in English Language Development class, they had two! Families also could explore several classes' art projects that art teacher Ms. Hinshaw organized and scan QR codes to see an array of musical and dance performances that music teacher Mr. Sargent recorded in music class.

The fun spilled over to the next morning, when principal Mrs. Garcia got to randomly select dozens of the Dec. 20 event attendees' names to choose a free book before winter break.

Special thanks to the Riverdale Elementary community for submitting this Five Star Story.
