Springs News Letter

Dear Riverdale Families,

It is hard to believe that the weather is finally warming up, and we only have a little over ten weeks left with your children this school year!  It was wonderful seeing you all last month for conferences, and we still have plenty of learning going on here at Riverdale Elementary.  Please see the important announcements outlined below, and as always, feel free to give us a call or stop by if you have any questions or compliments!

CMAS Testing (Colorado Measures of Student Success): We will begin testing in the areas of English Language Arts and Math for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students in the month of March, and our 5th graders will test in the area of Science in April.  Please help your student get plenty of rest and a good breakfast so their brains are ready to demonstrate all they know!

  • 3rd, 4th, 5th Grade ELA: March 19, 20, 21
  • 3rd, 4th, 5th Grade Math: April 3, 4, 9
  • 5th Grade Science: April 10, 11, 12

Planning for the 2019-2020 School Year:  Several parents have asked questions about the teacher placement for their child for the upcoming year.  While we do not accept teacher requests, we welcome and value parental input regarding the classroom setting needs of your child.  If you would like to share your feedback with us please submit a letter to me by Friday, April 12, 2019.

Upcoming Dates:

  • March 11: PTO @ 6:15 pm
  • March 21: Chick-Fil-A Night @ 5-8 pm

Reminders from the beginning of the year…

Arriving at Riverdale: Parents are welcome to park and walk your scholar onto campus, or use our Hug and Go on Elm Drive/108th Avenue directly in front of the school.  Please remember, cars may not be parked in the Hug and Go area in the mornings, as this is intended for drop off purposes only.  Our front gate closes at 7:20.  At that time, only buses and vehicles with handicap parking may enter our parking lots.

Morning Arrival and Supervision: Our first bell rings at 7:30, and the tardy bell rings at 7:35.  Instruction will begin promptly at 7:35, so it is important that our scholars arrive to school on time and ready to learn.  Staff will be positioned on our campus to provide supervision in the mornings between 7:25-7:35.

Animals on Campus: We know that pets are part of our families, and are well loved!  However, animals are not permitted on school grounds.  For the safety of all our students please leave your furry friends at home and do not bring them on campus.

Many Thanks,

Kristin Golden
