Reading

This year we will be using Mondo along with Mondo small group literature books for differentiation.  Reading instruction will take place individually, in small groups, and with the whole class.  It will include understanding specific skills with strong emphasis on comprehension and constructed responses (Please view our rubric on the PAGES tab).  Independent reading, shared reading, guided reading, and word work will be part of instruction.

Writing

Writing will be done across the curriculum.  Lessons will be given to support growth in content, organization, style, and conventions.  The 3rd Grade Writing Rubrics will be used for assessment (see WRITING RUBRICS page).  Throughout the school year, your student will write personal narrative, opinion, informational, and research.
