Assessment Information

DECEMBER 2009 ASSESSMENT DAY

On Monday, December 7, all elementary schools will be conducting their mid-year assessments. Please note the following change for December 7, 2009.

KINDERGARTEN-FIRST GRADE-SECOND GRADE STUDENTS:

7:45 a.m.-10:45 a.m. All students whose last names begin with A-L will come to school for testing (3 hour school day only).
11:30 p.m.- 2:30 p.m. All students whose last names begin with M-Z will come to school for testing (3 hour school day only).

THIRD GRADE-FOURTH GRADE-FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS:

7:45 a.m.-10:45 a.m. ALL students in these three (3) grade levels attend school for testing (3 hour school day only).

Teachers in third, fourth, and fifth grade levels will contact parents individually, if ADDITIONAL testing is needed in
the afternoon for their child.

Note: The reason for the difference in schedules between the two groups of students is that staff members are required to give individual assessments to the younger students, while the older students are able to take tests in a large group setting.

Please contact the school if you have any questions.

Registration Information

NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION FOR 2010-2011

Riverdale Elementary will accept registration for new incoming Kindergartners through 5th grade for the 2010-2011 school year on Friday, February 26, 2010, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. We will continue to take registrations until Friday, May 28, 2010.

Please bring your child's immunization record, state certified birth certificate, parent photo ID and two proofs of residency (i.e., Xcel bill, water bill, mortgage bill). At this time we will have information available for the KEEP Program and the B.A.S.E. Program.

After May 28, 2010, all registrations Kdg. thru 5th grade will need to be processed at the following location:

The Central Enrollment office is located at the district's Education Support Center (ESC), 1500 E. 128th Ave., Thornton. The office is open Monday through Friday, 12 months per year, excluding holidays. It is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. The phone number is 720-972-6545. Parents of all students new to the district, those making guardianship changes, those making Declarations of Residency and former students who have withdrawn and wish to re-enroll will need to go to this site for registration. Enrollment packets are also available at all schools. Parents of currently enrolled students will not use the centralized system and will continue to work with their child's school staff on enrollment issues. Address changes will also be handled at Central Enrollment. Please contact the school office regarding this process. To learn more about the centralize enrollment change, log onto the district's Website at www.adams12.org and click on the News option titled “Move to Central Enrollment.” At the time of registration the following information is required: State Certified Birth Certificate, Immunization Record, Parent/Guardian Photo I.D., (2) Proofs of Residency ( i.e., current Xcel bill, water bill, lease, mortgage bill). A child needs to be 5 years of age on or before September 15 to be eligible to enter Kindergarten.

Before and After School Arrangements

To avoid miscommunications, please make all after school arrangements BEFORE your child comes to school. There is no supervision for students before 7:30 a.m. nor after 2:40 p.m. (1:25 p.m. on Wednesday).
See the BASE page regarding Kindergarten KEEP Program

Cold Weather

In Colorado you never know when to predict snowy days or cold weather. Please make sure children come to school prepared for the cold weather and sudden temperature changes. We will go outside for recess unless the temperature is below 20 degrees (with the wind chill) or there is measurable precipitation.
