January 2021 Newsletter
Dear Riverdale Families,
We are so excited to be welcoming many of our families back to school for in-person learning and to continue working with families that opted to continue with remote learning! There are a few things we want to communicate with you prior to returning back to school. Please see important updates below for both in-person and remote learners, including Safety Protocols, Remote Instructional Schedule, Parent-Teacher Conferences, PTO news, and our new Resource Closet.
Morning Arrival at Riverdale
In order to provide for a gradual and safe arrival, we will have a Soft Start this semester beginning at 7:55. Students may arrive on campus and enter between 7:55-8:05 every day. Please see the Entrance Map here.
All students will be required to wear a mask. Masks must cover the mouth and nose that is secured around the ears and/or head, cannot have a valve, and cannot be a gator type mask that is pulled up or down from the neck area.
Parents are asked to remain in their cars, or to stand at the curb while school staff monitor and assist students entering the building. All Staff, Parents and Students are required to wear a mask while on campus.
Only students will be permitted to enter the building. If you have questions or needs from our office staff, please call the main office at (720)972-5580.
There is no parking in our staff parking lots, and only buses or vehicles with a handicap license/placard will be permitted entry in front of the school.
As a reminder, for the safety and security of students and staff, pets are not permitted on campus during arrival and dismissal.
All classroom teachers will walk students to the front of the building at dismissal time.
Parents are asked to remain in their cars, or to stand at the curb while school staff assist students dismissing the building.
Vehicles may park in the Hug and Go lane during dismissal
Any vehicle with a handicap license/placard may park in our handicap spots in the front of the building prior to the gates closing at 2:45, and at 1:45 on Wednesdays.
Any cars parked in the gated areas must stay idle, and may not leave until the gates have been open and drivers are motioned to exit when the lots are clear of scholars and staff.
Remote Learning Schedule
Beginning on Monday, January 25th, all remote learners will return to the previous instructional schedule. Classes will begin at 8:00am and end at 11:30am for a lunch break. Students may be asked to return for group or individual instruction in the afternoons, and all specials classes will return to asynchronous lessons twice a week in the afternoons.

Schedule Change for Parent Teacher Conferences/Teacher Work Day
The District’s original calendar had a teacher work day with no school for students scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 10. In the interest of providing more continuity in learning that week with four straight days of instruction (M-Th), we have decided to move that work day from Wednesday, Feb. 10 to Friday, Feb. 12. There will be no school for students on Friday, Feb. 12.
While our Parent-Teacher Conferences will look a little different this year given COVID, our teachers are committed to connecting with each of our families either virtually or by phone to provide a progress report on their student and to partner in supporting each student’s growth for the remainder of this semester. Please be watching for an invitation from your teacher to sign up for a conference through Sign-Up Genius. Our conferences will be held on February 10th from 2:30-7:30, and February 11th from 3:30-7:30.
Our PTO will be hosting a virtual meeting on February 1st at 5:00. We will also host a fund-raiser on February 22nd at Chipotle on Thornton Parkway from 4:00-8:00. We would love to see our families at both events!
Riverdale Resource Closet
Riverdale has started a Community Resource Closet to support our families. Our closet is filled with personal hygiene items, cleaning supplies, laundry supplies, non-perishable food, clothing, baby supplies, and other household items at no cost to you. We are excited to support our community this way. Please fill out the interest form and we will reach out with more information.
Again, we are excited to work with you as we transition back to school, whether remotely or in-person, to provide the best school experience for your scholar!
